Amanda Hodes is a writer and new media artist. She was the winner of the 2024 Philip Levine Prize for Poetry for her book Into the Into of Earth Itself, and she is an Assistant Professor of English (Creative Writing, Poetry) at Augusta University. Previously, she has taught at Oberlin College & Conservatory and Virginia Tech. Her poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner, Black Warrior Review, Gulf Coast, FENCE, Denver Quarterly, Pleiades, Academy of American Poets (online), and elsewhere. As an artist, she is interested in sound installation as a route to an embodied, spatial poetics—that is, ways to walk and move through sonic poetry. Her new media work has been exhibited in venues such as the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum, Torpedo Factory, Hirshhorn Smithsonian Sound Scene Festival, Abington Arts Center, and Ammerman Center for Arts & Technology.
