He writes regularly for The Psychotherapy Networker. His New York Times essay, “Two Open Marriages in One Small Room” (January 2020) was adapted for the Modern Love podcast (summer 2021). He writes a monthly blog, Heart’s Imagination, on psychotherapy, healing, and the creative life, available on Substack. He is a writer, psychotherapist, and teacher in Portland, Oregon. His first book, The Maps They Gave Us, was shortlisted for the Lambda Literary Award (Bisexual Nonfiction) and the Oregon Book Award (Creative Nonfiction).
