Deborah Clearman, author of the novel Todos Santos, has two reading engagements in December. Here’s the info:
Thursday, December 2, 7:00
Ridgewood, NJ Whole Foods
44 Godwin Avenue
Ridgewood, NJ
Deborah will read from Todos Santos and tell you about Trickle Up, a nonprofit organization that helps the poor in Guatemala. You can do some holiday shopping and donate to a good cause (part of the proceeds from book sales will go to Trickle Up) all at the same time! And stock up on gourmet treats.
Trickle Up provides business training, small seed capital grants, and savings programs to the extreme poor to start businesses and increase their livelihoods. Learn the true story of how Juana Vicente Martin, a mother of four abandoned by her husband, used her grant of $100 to start a small butchering business. With the revenue she earns selling chickens, she’s able to feed her children, and buy them shoes and school supplies.
Monday, December 13, 7:00
Chevy Chase Library
(a branch of the DC public library)
5625 Connecticut Avenue NW
Washington, DC
In Washington Deborah will be joined by friends from Guatemala. You can ask them for the real story behind the novel! It promises to be a fascinating evening.
Both events are free. We hope to see you there.
