BLP poet TJ Beitelman, author of the prize-winning chapbook Pilgrims: A Love Story, is awesome: check out this fantastic video of him busking poems in Birmingham, AL. He’s also giving fans several opportunities to see him read live in the next few weeks: On April 1, he’ll read at the Slash Pine Poetry Festival in Tuscaloosa; on April 15, he’ll be at the Montevallo Literary Festival at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, AL, where he’ll read and also conduct a master class for middle school and high school language arts teachers on incorporating creative writing into their classes; and May 6-8 he’ll team with a pair of doctors to conduct a workshop/writing retreat in Birmingham, where the focus will be on how palliative health care professionals can use creative writing and new media (specifically blogging) in their practices.
If you haven’t had a chance to read Pilgrims yet, head on over to the BLP website and pick up a copy–it’s the perfect way to kick off Spring!
